I found this interesting to demonstrate for teachers. There was a question by Sudhanshu K in http://in.answers.yahoo.com/. The question was
Prove 1=2 by algebric method?
It was solved by another subscriber named ‘enemy’ . The answer is
a=b
a^2=ab multiply by a
a^2-b^2=ab-b^2 subtract b^2
(a-b) (a+b)=b(a-b)
a+b=b
a+a=a (a=b)
2a=a
2=1
hence proved.
It got the maximum number of votes of 1183 answers.
It is awesome to share knowledge through net like this. So the teachers begin fast.
